i just purchased what i believe is a 300 savage 99 but the serial and stamp dont match any thing i can find .

Anyhow, the serial number is 646346 and it doesnt have a letter in it. If the serial number is over 500,000 or starts with an A then a 6H would mean that inspector #6 did a final inspection of the rifle in 1956.
If the serial number is lower or higher than that, then the stamp doesn't have any known meaning.
